Adelie penguin rookery

Adelie penguin rookery. This species of penguin is found all around the Antarctic continent, and also on the South Sandwich Islands. They are not commonly found on South Georgia. In all there are 17 species of penguin, all found in the Southern Hemisphere. Adelie penguins are about 70cm tall, and the total breeding population is estimated to be over 2,500,000 pairs.
