Description
The Malakoff slipway; steam drifter WINNER BF 1805 on the slip. This was a very successful boat, and was a frequent visitor to Shetland. McDonald's curing station is still operating as is the coal compound on the Malakoff jetty. Off in Bressay Sound are two coal hulks (probably the Richelieu and the J.S. Sterry, which belonged to the firm J.W. Robertson). Amongst equipment can be a seen a grindstone, for tool sharpening.
