Back: Sammy Anderson (Krø Green, Ollaberry), Robbie Gilbertson (Ladie, Ollaberry), Gilbert Porteous (Ness, Queyfirth), Willie Stout (Toft, Fair Isle), George Smith (Hoove, Whiteness), Lowrie Anderson (Scarpie, Hamar), Alec Flaws (Tougs, Dunrossness), Peter Coutts (Trondra), unknown. Front: James Henderson (Lee, Whalsay), Sammy Anderson (Krø Green, Ollaberry), George Welton (from Lowestoft), Colour Sergeant Piper, Colonel Evans, retired soldier (from East Blythe), Herbert Inkster (Braeside, Ollaberry), John Robertson (Yell). Men hold flags, signal lamps and telescopes at front. Note gun harpoons outside the hut. Piper was signals instructor, Evans was Officer Commanding, Shetland troops. Note: two Sammy Andersons, with same address, being cousins.
