The Roost, Commercial Street, from H. McKay, flesher, 121 Commercial Street and H. Morrison, stationer, 74 Commercial Street. Group of boys Construction work of the Grand Hotel in progress. Taken same day as R00303. The Roost, at 9 feet wide, was the narrowest part of the street; numbers 121, 123, 125, & 127 were demolished on 30 Apr. 1888, widening the street there to 19 feet. A new granite block of shops was erected to replace the demolished buildings. (For a similar view in c. 1930 see R02608). 121 Commercial Street was built in 1817.
