Boat House, Symbister
26 Jun. 1939
The Boat's House, Symbister. Tammie Anderson walking past the Tuppick. Tammie was from Skerries, lived at Billister, Nesting, and was a boat builder. Tuppick was a hut used by gutters having their tea and flitboat men & passengers awaiting the Earl of Zetland. The Tuppick was built from parts of two ships; nearest is made from part of the barque Alba, the other half from a deckhouse from the brig Nordstjernen. Alba was wrecked on the Flaeshins, Sandwick, 1 Apr. 1884. Nordstjernen was wrecked at the Wick of Nisthouse, 6 Apr. 1880. Tuppick takes it's name from an Eskimo summer residence. Hut behind Tuppick is gutters' and coopers' accom odation.
