Description
Following the loss of the 'St. Sunniva' and the trawler 'Ben Doran' in1930, it became obvious that Shetland could not do without a lifeboat any longer. The Duke of Montrose makes a speech at the naming of the first Lerwick lifeboat, LADY JANE AND MARTHA RYLAND. By the end of that year 34 lives had been saved by the new lifeboat.
