Description
View of houses in foreground and beach, Orkney. this photo was most likley taken from the Hoy High lighthouse on the island of Greamsay with Ward hill on Hoy in the background. it is the only place to get this veiw. It is of Sandside Farm, Graemsay, with a view of the Bay of Sandside. The family farmed here for three generations. The photo shows the house shortly after conversion from two flats to a single dwelling. The new slates in the centre of the roof show where a chimney had been removed. The single story building attached to the left side of the house was a post office and shop. To the left of the house can be seen an area used for damming water for the threshing mill. The current owner, has recently renovated the house.
