Landing ponies from Bressay at Lerwick slipway from the flit boat MAID OF THE MIST. The flit boat is assisted by onlookers as she comes into Victoria Pier's old slipway to unload a cargo of Shetland ponies. Two old gentlemen assist from the quayside, whilst another holds the boom out of the way. Another man stands in the fore end of the flit boat and an important looking gent (possibly the owner of said ponies?) looks on from the starboard gunwale. Fishing boats from Peterhead, Inverness and Banf are in the background. Note the use of hessian sacks to prevent scraping the sides of the boat when requiring to be so close to the pier.
