Officers group, Fort Charlotte. Back: Colour Sergeant Foy, Sergeant Naylor, Sergeant Heckmond, Colour Sergeant Charles Piper. Front: Sergeant Carter, Lieutenant Arthur Nicolson, Lt-Colonel H. C. Evans, Colour Sergeant McKenzie, unknown Sergeant - nicknamed Fatty. Arthur Nicolson is of Brough Lodge, Fetlar. Carter was band master. Nicolson was in command of Walls Gun Crew. Evans was Officer Commanding, Shetland Troops. McKenzie worked in office (dealt out papers, did reports, was recruiting sergeant). Fatty was a drill instructor. Foy was a drill instructor. Naylor was physical training instructor (he also called the roll etc.). Heckmond was rifle instructor. Piper was in charge of signals.
