Planticrubs also known as crubs are in use and are planted up with seedlings. These stone built enclosures were usually circular or rectangular sometimes with fells and stakes. The one at the front also has netting for additional protection. Built on hillsides and used to raise seedlings usually kale. The plants are transplanted in the croft yard the following year and provide food and fodder for the croft in the winter.
