Planticrub at Yell. Crubs come in a variery of shapes or sizes usually round or square and built on hillsides. Kale seedlings were planted in these stone enclosures early summer and replanted in the yard back at the croft the following spring. The high walls protected the young plants from the elements of the weather and from the sheep which grazed on the hillside. Providing food and fodder for the croft in the winter.
