Description
Skipper James Jamieson (Stens, Spiggie) at right, with helmsman William Smith (Collaster, Sandwick), of cargo smack COLUMBINE. This was the boat on which Betty Mouat drifted alone to Norway in January 1886, the boat being wrecked. The Columbine had a crew of three, but W. Smith was not on what was to be her last voyage; crew being, James Jamieson, Jerry Smith, Oliver Smith. William Smith wears gansey or fisherman's froke under his tunic.
